The surroundings of Hotel-Restaurant De Kempen

The hotel is located in Reusel in the province of Brabant, and lies in the middle of the Dutch and Belgian border. You can literally see both sides from the Hotel-Restaurant De Kempen! Two roads run along the hotel that bring you to the most beautiful parts of the De Kempen nature reserve. Expansive woods, aromatic heather and winding brooks characterise the area. Apart from its stunning nature, the area is loved for its charming Brabant villages. Not for nothing is there a group of eight villages known under the name ‘Acht zaligheden’, ‘the eight beatitudes’. The use of the name ‘zaligheden’ is derived from ‘sel’, short for ‘selligheden’ in old Dutch or ‘zaligheden’ today, by which the names of seven of the eight villages end. Reusel is thus one of these eight villages. Reusel itself has a few sights, such as the neo-gothic cross shaped basilica, Onze Lieve Vrouw Tenhemelopneming (our beloved lady of the ascension), on Kerkplein. Or take a stroll through the Deken van der Wee Park, a small but pretty park where an enormous beech tree grows.

Near Reusel are the beautiful nature parks De Reuselse Moeren and De Grote en Kleine Cirkel. A walk in these areas is certainly worthwhile. Should you wish for culture or shopping, then you could visit Turnhout (18 km), Tilburg (25 km), Eindhoven (28 km), or Antwerp (65 km). If you are staying at the hotel with children, you will make them very happy with a visit to the theme park Attractiepark Bobbejaanland, only a 15 minute drive away.
